Within the framework of the project "Innovating the vocational training system in Vietnam for development goals" (Vietskill), on November 10, 2022, Nha Trang University organized a seminar with the topic "Developing professional skills for labors in the Food Processing Industry in Vietnam" with the attendance of researchers from the Vietskill project, central and local agencies, universities, colleges, and businesses operating in the field of food technology.
The food processing sector contributes significantly to the country's economy. Upskilling the workforce in this industry is one of the key stages in the upgrading the whole industry in the global supply chain, which requires close interaction between educational institutions and industry businesses.
At the seminar, members of the projects presented the project's research results on professional skills of labors in the food technology industry in the world and in Vietnam and proposed models of cooperation between training institutions and enterprises in the food processing industry. The representatives of enterprises also share about vocational skills training at enterprises and current models of cooperation. The participants also listened to a particular case of training and cooperation in the seafood processing industry in Vietnam from VASEP. All participants spent time to share findings, raise ideas, discuss and suggest solutions for labor skills development.
The seminar is a component of the project "VIETSKILL - Renovating the vocational training system in Vietnam for development goals", aiming to solve problems in the next stage of Vietnam's industrialization process. This is a research project between Copenhagen Business School (Denmark) and partners in Vietnam (including: Nha Trang University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Ministry of Planning and Investment, General Department of Vocational Education and Training. Vietnamese industry). The project is supported by the Danish Government through the organization DANIDA (Danish Development Cooperation Agency).
